In a remote Gothic estate, Baron Zorn, convinced that his late wife’s insanity has infected his children, keeps his grown son Emil and daughter Elizabeth locked away under sedation. Seeking a cure for what he believes to be a hereditary curse, he hires the enigmatic Dr. Falkenberg, who employs hypnosis and unconventional therapy to uncover the family’s dark psychological undercurrents. Meanwhile, villagers nearby are terrorized by brutal murders, and a zealous priest fans rumors of demonic forces at work.

As Falkenberg delves deeper into the family’s history, the barriers between sanity and madness crumble. Secrets of incest, trauma, and inherited guilt emerge, and suspicion falls on the imperiled siblings. When the truth is revealed, an enraged mob converges on the estate, torch in hand, culminating in a chilling climax where psychological dread ignites into bloody violence.
